They have won more World Cups than any other teams in the game’s 50-over format, capturing the titles on seven different occasions: in 1978, 1982, 1997, 2005, 2003 and, most recently, in 2022 after beating England by 71 runs in the final match.

2. England

Representing both England and Wales, the England team occupies the second spot in all the ICC Women’s rankings. This women’s team is also behind in making cricket one of the most popular sports in the UK.

They are currently captained by Heather Knight and coached by Jon Lewis. Notably, the team won the first-ever Women’s Cricket World Cup in 1973 on home soil.

New Zealand’s women’s team, also nicknamed the “White Ferns,” is coached by Ben Sawyer and captained by Sophie Devine.

Currently, they occupy the fifth position in the ICC Women’s ODI ranking. New Zealand has participated in all ten editions of the Women’s Cricket World Cup, lifting the trophy in 2000 and ending up in second place in 1993, 1997 and 2009.

Similar to Bangladesh, Thailand is a newer and more promising team, which debuted in 2007. Currently coached by Harshal Pathak and captained by Naruemol Chaiwai, the team hosted and won the 2012 ACC Women’s Championship.

This helped them qualify for the first time to the World Twenty20 Qualifier in 2013. At the 2019 edition of the tournament, they were the runner-ups.

The “Green Shirts” or “Women In Green,” are coached by Mark Coles and captained by Bismah Maroof. It also depends on pace attack, as they have some of the current fastest bowlers on their side.

In the years following their international debut, the team was scarcely competitive and wouldn’t qualify for a World Cup until 2009.
